How to setup Gradwell's Usenet service
Getting Started
We provide a variety of different Usenet services, depending on your requirements.
Customers with email or developer accounts automatically receive a single-user Usenet account, though you must enable it from the control panel.
This can be bought separately too. We also offer a multi-user (‘suck’/’pull’) account. Full information on our available Usenet services is here.
Usenet accounts are set up via the control panel. If you have an email or developer account, you will already have set up a login for the control panel. You just need to log into your control panel, select Usenet and configure your username and password.
If you just want to purchase the Usenet service you still need to set up an account with Gradwell, once the usenet service has been purchased you can log into the control panel and configure the login details.
Basic Configuration
Our Usenet server is news.gradwell.net.
To use our server, you must have a news client that supports passworded servers such as Free Agent or Mozilla Thunderbird.
When setting up an account, you select a username and password to log in to the server with, which you use in your news software.
The Usenet login details are not your Gradwell login details. You need to add a Usenet account via the control panel, wait 5 minutes and use those details.
Advanced Settings and Troubleshooting
We carry a wide variety of text-only newsgroups. Most of alt.*, the big-8 (comp.*, rec.*, sci.*, news.*, humanities.*, talk.*, soc.*, misc.*), uk.*, in fact, just about everything you could want.
We also carry the group, uk.net.providers.gradwell which is used as a discussion and self-support group for our services.
To request a newsgroup to be added to our newsserver, email newsmaster@gradwell.net.
